“Father to the fatherless, defender of the widows… He places the lonely in families”
WIDOW CARE & EMPOWERMENT
The Widows Program gives African widows and impoverished women
of the church a means of employment and artistic expression through the making of handcrafts. Because of their circumstances, many of these widows find the task of providing for themselves and their children a daunting challenge.
Widows are amongst the most vulnerable group in Africa. In traditional rural African societies,
Often the need is such that young children who should be attending school are required to take up some form of underage employment to supplement their mother’s income in order to feed the family. It is this financial burden which makes it necessary for the children to be withdrawn from school.
WACHAF is empowering and providing training in business skills for widows so that they can generate sustainable income to be able to look after their families and educate their children.
